Flying without DJI Go 4 app?

I just received my Mavic Pro and I'm trying to fly without DJI Go 4 app but it won't.

The problem is that it won't install in my iPad Air (Wi-Fi) nor in my Samsung S3 (I broke my phone 3 days ago so I had to rescue the S3)...therefore I haven't installed DJI Go 4 app nor paired it with the drone.

Is that the reason why it won't work just with the RC?

Nah, not working...I feel I need to activate it with the DJI app

Yes, you'll need to activate your Mavic in DJI GO 4 before you can fly it. After activating it, you'll be able to fly it with just the remote controller.
