Here's a little clip testing the active track 2.0 for the first time. I have to say it was pretty scary but it worked like a charm! Next time I'll try the 'fast' mode on tracking...
Only suggestion I have is maybe use a phone holder on your handlebars with a cable long enough to go from saddlebag to phone. That way you don't have to keep checking over your shoulder if the drone is still tracking. Might be safer?

I gave up riding last year due to injuries but having ridden probably a half a million miles in 40 years between the rubber handlebar isolators and rubber mounted (or counterbalanced) engines it is not an issue. Many people ride with their phones in a mount without issues.My only concern is that the controller will get a good shake. Ive had Ram mounts on many of my bars, and especially with a Hawg, youre going to rattle anything to death.
I think a backpack is the way to go. But I really dont recommend driving and droning at the same time.

After reviewing this thread and title, Im really thinking its a bad idea to ride a bike and fly at the same time. Im not being Drone Police, but if I forgot my GF, then my mind is obviously not on my drone either.
Ive owned bikes for a bit longer than you, and I agree that a phone on the bars is possible, as well as a GPS.

Thanks. Yeah it's pretty amazing what this thing can do. Agreed on some sort of stick or bar mount, to not have to look over my shoulder like that This was just a quick little test and first time using active track.Remarkably good, considering the strong shadow made the apparent shape of the outline change a great deal.
I'd like to have a stick guard thing on with it in the pannier as it can still respond and potentially zoom off if it slid about.
The magic is lost when you keep looking back for it, maybe change a mirror

Not a good place to try what you are trying to do OP.Cool test but give the short distance I would of let my gf hold the controller and focus on the road, it only takes one second as a rider to be in a bad spot especially in the area you were testing (potential for cars to back out of spots, etc) As a rider you need to contasntly be on guard due to the lack of other people’s actions/inability to see you. Throw in a drone tracking test and you have a ton of distractions on your end on top of the people around you who can just be distracted by life
I would hate to see you dump your precious bike and possibly hurt yourself or others this is one of those things if something went wrong you would look pretty bad in explaining what happened.
Better to do such test in an open parking lot, closed course scenario part of a park that has no people etc at the time in case something went wrong and to build confidence in how active track works etc before going out on the open road
I don’t mean to sound like that guy but in situations like this you need to think about other people more than yourself.
Thanks for your concern but it's based on assumptions (mother of all screw ups) And here's why. There are two cars assisting me and making sure there was no traffic behind me or in front of me. The one place where traffic could come into that bit of "roundabout" was blocked. There were 3 friends along the track to make sure no cars were backing out of a parking spot and to make sure others weren't at risk at any time. Yes what you did probably seems cool to a lot of newby's but anyone with any drone experience at all would never try this where you tried it. That almost makes it worse trying to say you had people staged along the route yet your GF was left behind to play no part in visual observation?
There wasn’t part of the thought process oh I need 4 people involved at these stages to watch for other people going about their day to possibly inconvenience them flying your drone as a test following your motorcycle, that maybe it wasn’t the best place to do so or so the safest? Not the best public positive light on drone safety/public perception.
If I was trying to back out of a spot and some dude said hey we have a drone filming coming down the road I’d be sure to say something. There is a reason why filming on roads requires closed roads, permits, etc.
This almost comes off as machosim, impulsivity, and antiauthority behaviors wrapped up into one. The hey watch this, nothing can happen to me, and rules don’t apply to me. Behaviors you would learn under the part 107 license, which your actions could risk revoking that privilege
Take this as a learning lesson and be thankful everything went ok....this time
Maybe instead of making excuses or explain your thought process behind this maybe step back and reevaluate your actions and learn from them and man up and just realize this unsafe action
Yes you're right, so sorry. In the USA what you did would be illegal, but I don't know about what the laws are in Holland. But even if I was on vacation in Holland, and it was legal.
