IMO this is the last thing we need....ppl building empires for themselves and i dont believe its warranted. Sounds to me like the "yellow card" for hi lift machines. An industry driven standard to make money and make themselve feel good. Work cover issues acceditation for real hi lift over 10.5mtr but the yellow card is not even an requirement and this smells the same

Agree. A set of people developing solutions to problems that don’t exist. All the while plotting how to make money from such proposals and never needed solutions.

White Cards
Yellow Cards
Blue Cards

You name it...

The AVI and certification already exists and has existed way before and RePl and ReOC certifications. It is part of the aviation training packages. The issue is that much of the content relates around conventional aircraft. The new units of competency would relate more specifically to RPAS.
These qualifications will not effect small commercial or solo operators, but is a qualification that can be gained that could be a requirement by larger industry (eg, Boeing Defence Australia)
Think of it like having a commercial pilots license. You can work as a pilot no worries. But if your looking for a job with QANTAS, having the bachelor of Aviation will greatly increase your chances of getting that job.

so nothing about empire building, and more related to refining existing educational qualifications around RPAS.
