As you all know, the copter is great but DJI software procedures pretty much suck.
Flew the MP a few times in mid December with a Google Pixel until a ghost branch took it down. There were several app crashes which only required an app restart.
The copter was replaced under DJI Care Refresh and the Pixel was replaced with a Pixel 2. The copter wouldn't bind until I flashed new firmware with DJI Assistant 2 which itself wouldn't communicate with the bird until I Disabled Driver Signature Verification in Windows 8.1 so unsigned drivers from DJI could be installed. Flew a few times but now was getting Aircraft Disconnected events several times during a flight while in Beginner mode so distance was not a factor. Reconnection always happened so I could cancel the autolandng and regain control.
I got a Huawei Ascend XT2 and prepared it according to Install DJI GO on an Android Phone and had a few more flights, again with Aircraft Disconnected several times per flight. I downgraded to DJI GO 4 to 4.1.15 for its purported stability and offline map capability. I saw no notable difference. Later I went to capture a sunset and the MP wouldn't connect to the RC and the app said a firmware update was required. Upgrading through the app failed multiple times at 47%while the RC said UPGRADING.
Prior to UPGRADING the RC said CONNECTING while the app indicated the aircraft was Connected so I don't really know if they were actually connected. In any case, I can't bind the aircraft. I did Refresh the firmware directly using Assistant 2 so it is current. Is there a way to check the firmware in the RC. I know having consistent versions is critical but how do I tell?
I am currently on the latest firmware according to Assistant 2 (V01.04.0100) and the latest app (4.1.22). However, the RC will not bind and the app says that there is new firmware available which is the same version already installed by the Assistant and yet it says Connected and GO FLY but won't fly (go figure).
I'm going around in circles. I'm most grateful to anyone who can plow through this sad history and help me out of this cycle. Could I even use Litchi if the aircraft won't even bind to the RC?
