I have a mini 3P and mini 4P. The 3 never gets flown, the 4 a lot. I've kept the 3 as a backup.

If I get a 5P, what's the argument for keeping the 3P?

I'm not coming up with anything.

I'm keeping all of my drones for 2 main reasons mostly due to the unknown whether they will ever be widely available in the future: 1. If one of my drones breaks down and I can't get a repair or replacement, I'll have a suitable backup and 2. The market prices for used drones are higher but not to the point where I feel it is worthwhile to sell; I guess I'm trying to "sell at the peak" sorta like buying on the dip. Right now there is a lot of fraud (on both sides) because people are desperate so it's hard to sell online without elevated risk.

So for me, timing is everything. Plus, I have way too many accessories for my drones which makes them harder to give up because you don't really get paid for extra accessories.

I keep my drones, I figure I will never get near the money I have spent on them anyways. and after you strip the electronics to feed the other Drone, simply paint the old plastic body silver and you have a nifty flagpole topper!

my mini 2, and 3 pro don't get much use, but I dont like the idea of selling it for not much
The used re-sale value will continue to go down the longer you keep it. You could just donate it to someone who willing and able to learn about flying drones. It would be good educational experience.

Normally, I would agree with FLDave, but with supplies and future supplies of DJI equipment being so uncertain, I think the market may experience the reverse.

Using the word "may" doesn't offer any prediction as it only implies something that might, or might not, happen; it only indicates a possibility of something happening, or not happing. So, base a buy decision needs, or wants, rather than future market possibilities.

I gave away my Mini 3 to my son-in-law when I upgraded to the Mini 4, was going to keep the Mini 4 as a backup to the Mini 5 when I got it. Changed my mind and sold the Mini 4 and got another Mini 5 as my backup, because of the uncertainty next few years will bring. I also sold my Air 3 and replaced it with 2 Mavic 4s for the same reasoning as the Mini 5.
As to resale value my Mini 4 fly more turned out to be worth more than the Air 3 Fly more.

I buy drones (or any electronic toys or gadgets really) the way I gamble at casinos. That money is already forfeit. I expect no return except for the entertainment value it gives me. If I win like getting that epic shot (I have collected a few over the years) then that is just icing on the cake.
