Hi,
I wonder if someone would have some advice for my problem.
About two weeks ago, I began to experience severe communication lag with my Mavic Air and Samsung Tab 4. Camera control is very delayed as well as live camera view and data info like remaining battery life. The drone is basically inoperable as an image capturing device now. I can, however, control the flight of the drone fine. I am using the current version of DJI Go 4 app, running current Android version 5.0.2, I have some available memory on the tablet, and I replaced the usb connection cord with a higher quality one and yet the problems persist.

Up until recently, I never had any issues like these. I posted on a Mavic Air forum to see if other Android users had similar problems. It was suggested that Android compatibility is an ongoing problem and that I should try an Apple product instead. But it seems people here are flying happily with Android devices. I don't know what the next step is in diagnosing. I am having a hard time finding any other devices to test the drone with to see if the issue is my tablet.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I’m not an android guy but honestly I don’t think that tablet is gonna cut it. DJI Go 4 is resource intensive

You are likely correct, it's just that everything was fine until recent updates. Time to start shopping for an upgrade. Thanks.

And in all likelihood you are correct. With each upgrade the DJI Go app gets more complex and resource hungry.

You might be able to download an apk for an older version and get some performance back. With the most recent version of the Mavic Air firmware you need DJI Go 4 4.3.0 or higher so try that one Download DJI GO 4 4.3.0 Android APK

Thanks for that. I will go out and try the older Go 4 version, if it works, I will know it's time for a tablet upgrade. Cheers.

Using the older Go 4 version solved my lag issues. Thanks very much for the help. I am going to start looking for one of the iPad models to use instead.

The app works just as well (or poorly) on Apple as it does on Android.
The important thing is to have a tablet with a fast processor and enough RAM, not what operating system it uses.

Yeah also make sure it's using a 'current' android/iOS version, the API's for legacy OS's get no live for updates and upgrades, so never helps. Android 5.x.x is considered 'dead' nowadays. So try stick to 7/8 at least.

It seems like every update to the app makes it a bit more bloated, it will help a lot if you turn off recording on the device, also make sure practically nothing else is running, a restart just before using it is a good idea.
Turn off auto updates on the google play page for it if you find recent versions too taxing.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, until I find a replacement device, I am going to only use the older version of the app.

Yes, clearly my Android OS is too old for this app.
