I just updated the go4 app on my network android phone and my other android phone with only wifi access by pointing to the QR, tapping m.dji.net and down loading and installing. I then did the same thing on my tablet and it just took me to the screen with the QR code. The go4 app was already loaded on all three devices.
Why isn't the same process working on my tablet?

Because DJI only recommends their apps for phones not tablets!

What's supposed to be the advantage to the update. I normally update when available, but with go4 and the age of the supported drones I'm leery about trying it, especially since everything is working fine the last time I used it. So just cerious if everything is still working fine after your update. I have a mavic 2 zoom and the Smart Controller. Last update I did was about a year ago when they did the RID update.

That’s the problem, they never really tell you what they’ve updated beyond ‘fixed some bugs’. If you are on an Apple product they’ve just updated iPhone OS which sometimes triggers a go4 update to keep it working nicely. I’m not bothering unless go4 and my mavic pro decide not to play nicely!

it isn't a recommendation if they absolutely don't let you update

well that sucks! Especially since I just got it setup for my tablet. However, i did find a work around for that and got it updated.

As you’ve found out there are ways around DJI’s edict. I run both go4 and fly on iPads.

Yeah, plenty of workarounds. Mine is to retrieve the .apk from the phone browser's "Download" folder after install, and save it on my PC. From there I can sideload it onto my other devices, no problem at all. I have an old phone I stripped down to act as a dedicated "Photo Tools" device that only has things like Go4, Mimo, etc. on it, but also have it on my main phone and tablet - all Android.

AFAICT, it works just fine on tablets apart from a few minor glitches with screen orientation; I use it on my Samsung tablet all the time without any operational issues.
