GPS updates in April 2019

I've just listened to a report on BBC radio 4 from Sat Nav maker TOM TOM
That due to a global timing reset which needs addressing every 19 years, sat navs need an update before April this year. They are providing this free of charge so its not a money issue.
Does anyone know if this is likely to affect UAV systems?

Most likely DJI will send an update down the lines and it will be DJI life as normal. Just make sure to update

This only applies to very old GPS chipsets that don't understand how to handle epoch transitions.

Should not be a problem for DJI - even if it was, it would only be an issue for those not updating their firmware.

Only if you were flying with a GPS receiver that 20+ years old.
This has no effect on any DJI drones (or most GPS users).

Yes, that is what I said and I agree - should not be a problem. Unfortunately, I see the YouTube crew is already out in full force trying to generate views by fear mongering.

I think everyone should sell me their DJI drones for $20 before they become useless in April! I mean it'd be better to have a twenty than a boat anchor
