Hello All, just joined Mavic & Spark sites. First time DJI Pilot from Des Moines, IA. These birds are amazing! I’ve flown several small "toys" and the Parrot birds and never very impressed. On the Mavric’s 1st flight I was ear to ear grin and stunned how well it flew, hovered, and so stable on a windy day! So exciting, knees were shaking a bit in fear of crashing at first, but quickly realized how much electronics made these so stable. Still learning the software, few questions on the intelligent modes and the home points. The RC home point ins’t a home point that stays with the Controller as it’s moved... assumed it was. The Spark is a great little Bird, so fast in Sport mode... although not impressed with the gesture controlling thing yet... maybe it’s me. Picked up a mint condition Mavic with a few extras, added the new quite Platinum blades and so much fun and much to explore and learn. Looking forward to picking up even more on these sites! Thanks, Doug

Welcome to Mavic Pilots! :)

Right -- the remote controller cannot be set as the home point. You can manually reset the home point to the remote controller's current location at anytime though (if you're using a mobile device that contains a GPS receiver).

In firmware version 1.04 (the current version), DJI added a feature that can automatically update the home point to the remote controller's current location when flying in the ActiveTrack mode.

Msinger, that’s great to know on Firmware. I do have the most current offered by the Go4 app. Do you need to turn that on in addition to selecting Controller HmPt? Or is that now automatically applied... that would provide the moving update of RC... trail walking, boat, etc.

Oh, just noticed it’s only for Active Track mode. I haven’t played much on the intel-modes yet... trees around that I don’t want in the way for backward or side flying.
