You know a Ham license comes in pretty handy in this hobby!

@Rchawks no i am not giving up on my drone flying ,just adding to my knowledge base ,and to have something i can do indoors, when the weather is not good for flying

OMM, I've always been impressed with the knowledge you have about drones and your willingness to help others. I think your new hobby will be awesome and the people you come into contact with will be fortunate to have you on board which is what I meant by your fan base growing, you're really something.

Man dont do it get away from radios now while you can.
I got into ham radios when looking for better radios to communicate when snow bike jeeping ect.

Currents have i think 8 hand held ham radio's thise **** baofeng things ugh. The ar-5m is currently my favorite.

So please just run while you can.

Ham radio and drones can be useful together. I put a small crystal controlled oscillator and a short (40 cm or so) horizontal antenna on my Mavic Air 2 and plotted the elevation pattern of one of my antennas by receiving the signal level from the antenna as I flew the drone a constant distance from the antenna. It worked great and actually gave me a pattern that closely matched what I modeled with EZNEC.

Drones can also be useful for running a line over the top of trees or across a ravine (or stretch of water) for hauling up a wire antenna.

You could even fasten a dual band handheld with repeater capability to the drone (my Air 2 can easily live 500 grams) to get a lot of extra additional height on a temporary basis for extra distance.

Congrats!

I've had a Technician license for about 15 years now. Got it for storm spotting purposes, but to be honest, I really haven't utilized it much in that time.
