I hadn't used it in a while and i get the error that the "Aircraft firmware not Supported"

I have updated to the latest version of software on the Mavic (500) so i wonder if i need to downgrade it!

Yes, if you check the 'what to test' section in test pilot you'll see they disabled Mavic support until the firmware issue is resolved as apparently the previous build experienced problems, although it worked fine for me.
