Has anyone tried comparing digital zoom on Pro vs optical zoom on Zoom?

Pro has a larger sensor and more mpix giving plenty of more detail compared to Zoom camera, which has optical zoom but 48mm zoom is not really that far.
Dolly Zoom can also be simulated by using video editing software.
My guess is that most of Zoom features can be simulated by using software and I'm curious about the results. The zoomed in picture quality *should* be similar.

There is no digital zoom on the Pro. Even if there are more "Mpix" you don't get them in the output video.
There are only 2 different FOVs but you cannot transition between them.

What I mean by digital zoom is software zoom.

And what I mean is that since you can not do any digital/software zoom on the aircraft itself you're doing in post, and have no choice but losing quality / reducing your output resolution.

There is no reason why digital zoom cannot be implemented on the Pro 2. If the zoom can do 2x digital zoom at 1080p, then so should the pro. In fact, given the pro has a 1.4x cropped 4K view, it can actually do 2.8x loseless digital zoom when shooting 1080p. Maybe DJI will enable that later.

I agree with you that there doesn’t appear to be any reason why the M2P can’t have zoom capabilities. DJI knew exactly what they were doing by not putting any zoom capabilities on the M2P. If you produce the ultimate drone with all the features one could ever want, you sell yourself out of business.

Dang, that’s too bad. If Mavic 2 Pro have digital zoom 2.8x lossless at 1080p, then it is what I will buy. Now I have to choose between no zoom or bad sensor. Guess I have to wait till Mavic 3.

My Mavic Pro original has digital zoom.
