Has DJI blocked the RC-2 controller USB video out?

In the last several months, I have been mesmerized by the idea of using XR glasses with my Air 3S. So after doing my due diligence (or so I thought), I bought the Rayneo Airs 3S pro glasses. They work perfectly connected to my phone and tablet, both Samsung. They will not connect at all to my RC-2 controller. *NOTE* DJI does not officially support USB video out on the RC-2. In my research down many rabbit holes, the only theory I could come up with is it depends on what version of firmware your controller is running. Mine was running V8.01. It appears that you need V6.0 or older to work. I was able to downgrade to V7.0 via DJI Assistant but no further.

If you are using XR glasses on the RC-2, could you please post what firmware version you are running. Or if anyone as any suggestions please chime in.

thanks,
Jim

@nexus Dragon: Thanks for the info. The Lifthor mount is cool. My theory is that when the RC2 came out with the AIR 3, it had USB Video enabled. When the AIR 3S came out the newer versions of the RC2 had video disabled. If that is the case the USB->HDMI would not work. Since the cables are relatively inexpensive I may test your theory.

i have one on backorder they are sold out everywhere in australia, and with a tablet you need a program called usb camera pro on an android to run it. but yours shouldn't need it, its designed to take a signal but through what port? is it a c or HDMI.

*UPDATE* The glasses do work with current V8.01 firmware. In my case it was matter of finding a high quality USB C cable that worked. The supplied cable did not work with the controller, though it did work with my phone. Also timing is *VERY* important!! I could only get it to reliably work if I waited to plug in the glasses about 8 seconds after power on. If I plugged in the glasses and then turned on the controller, they did not work. Interestingly if I used an USB->HDMI cable plugged into the controller and my TV or computer monitor, they always worked.

I can't imagine flying my Air 3s without XR glasses now!
Hope this helps others!
Jim
