I'm in Livermore, my business is in Fremont. Welcome to the forum.
We have a couple of RC clubs around but I don't think of the drone community in the same way. Mine is a constant companion when I travel locally, up the Sonoma coast, all through the Sacramento delta, etc, endless opportunities to capture eye candy, get a different perspective on the mundane scenes and a sense of scale. Right now, during the early Spring bloom we're enjoying, the Napa vineyards are a great opportunity.

Welcome to our forum, fernfly, from Hauptmann, in North Texas!
I am a Chabot alum living in Texas. I do the bulk of my flying in the SF Bay area. We usually start in the early AM on Treasure Island. There are some drone groups that meet there. I think you can find them on meetup.com.
