Hi from Richmond Virginia, well after lots of thought I finally said why not. The Mavic 2 Zoom with the smart controller arrived this morning so now the fun begins with a lot of reading and a lot to learn. One of the first steps will be getting the DJI Care Refresh plan... just in case. Looks like I'll be spending a lot of time on this site now and I have already picked up some tips.."Stay away from sport mode ?" along with a few others. Looking forward to being here often and learning a lot from all of you. All general comments, suggestions, ideas or just a "How ya doing Will" are always welcomed.

Welcome back to the forum.
I hope you will find our site helpful and look forward to any input , photo's/video's you might post .
Don't be shy and ask anything if you can't find it by searching . ?

welcome to the forum ,where have you been for the last three years just asking

Well I occasionally was lurking though not often as I would have liked. My job keeps me far to busy but that is only for 17 months at the most. Sold my home, bought a home to get ready for retirement. Sold my motorcycle which I miss (It paid for Drone ?) but it was time as some physical ailments have come into the picture, that happens as we get older. Family and life come into the picture too which pretty covers the big stuff.

Welcome to the forums - a lot of good info here. Also, the search function (magnifying glass icon upper right) is a great way to find answers to many of the questions a "newbie" will have. We were all "newbies" at one point.

Welcome to our Forum, Willllburrrr, from Hauptmann (aka Mr. Ed) in Texas!

You'll find that flying your Mavic Pro Zoom is so easy, it seems to fly itself. This can lead to overconfidence.

Read the manual, and be conservative at first. Practice using the “Find My Drone” App. Chances are you will crash and perhaps lose your bird. Don't wait until that happens to learn how to recover a lost drone.

Lots of good stuff to shoot throughout Virginia. Whenever you need help, there are over 100,000 of us from around the world to assist you as you gain experience and grow as a pilot and photographer.

Glad to have you as a member!

Welcome to the forum. You will find all sorts of support and assistance. We look forward to seeing your part of the world.

Welcome to Mavic Pilots! :) Enjoy the forum!Thumbswayup

Welcome, another from my home town Richmond, VA aka RVA or River City, as far as the deep South rises, or rose. Chesterfield parks are very drone friendly, managers and poleece will check your registration and be interested in your drone. Police will look at your logs and video and tell lying drone-hating neighbors that they'll be cited for false reports. At least that's my experience with drones around here. That, and _lots_ of trees make RTH an iffy thing to do. I hope we survive the epizoodic and the removal of our monuments to the losers helps us move on...

You should check out the RC clubs in the Richmond area. The folks are friendly and can give you very, very useful advice. Hope you have already registered sith the FAA - a requirement to fly the Mavic 2 anywhere. Go to www.modelaircraft.org and search for clubs in the area. My club is MVRCC.com
