Hello! Registered ages ago but never posted.

I’m now getting more serious into droning and aerial photography/videography and my wife is pushing me to take the FAA cert exam. Would the only upside be being able to this commercially? Or would it also help with getting permits to fly in places that require them?

And does someone have any advice for flying around Canada? I’ve only started researching but the Transport Canada site directed me getting certified over there.
