You're lucky. A-10's are among my favorite aircraft. I'd love to have them fly over my home, NFZ or not! Have you ever toured the Aberdeen Proving Grounds? It's on my bucket list.
Hey there, Hauptmann! Yeah. I NEVER get tired of seeing them, they are one of my all-time favorites. They fly REALLY low for a military combat jet, and
very slow ... so you get a nice long look at them when they fly over. They also
sound very different than anything else flying
. I am just outside the NFZ fortunately, and I also know roughly when they're going to be flying. But they do often scoot right over my house or places I am at (like the pool).
I have been on base once or twice at APG, and when I lived in Harford County I could feel the booms inside my house when they tested munitions sometimes. There was one time when they tested a MOAB (or the like) and I literally thought the East Coast was finally get "the big one" earthquake we've been promised, lol.) Anyway, I've never seen the the airfield at APG from the ground.up-close, but the A-10's don't fly out of there, they fly out of Martin's, along with 130's. (sorry if I am telling you stuff you already knew.)
I have been to Martin's a number of times (it's also, oddly enough, used as a civilian airport as well) ... but have probably only been on base 5-10 times in my lifetime, starting at around age 16. Been up close a number of times and even in the cockpit once, which was a dream come true for me. Sat in Cobra attack chopper and was permitted to work the targeting cam when I was 18 ... good times.
Sorry for my rambling, get me started on military aircraft and aviation... or mil. hardware in general and I won't shut up!
Take care
