After flying a DJI Spark for two years, I'm amazed at how quickly my Mavic Mini locks onto the homepoint. I mean, sometimes it hasn't even left the ground yet and I get a message that homepoint is updated.
With my Spark, I would have to take off and hover at about 20 to 30 feet for several seconds for it to establish a homepoint.
Meanwhile, I learned today why you should not launch your drone under a canopy of trees, etc., that you plan to fly out from under. Because when you hit RTH, your drone is going to locate that takeoff point and head straight down! Hopefully the bottom-facing sensors will detect the branches, but I didn't want to wait for that to happen and took matters into my own hands. ?
