How accurate is the DJI app for no fly zones - conflicts with Dronesafe?

Wanted to use the drone in Cambridge (UK) but the airport FRZ covers most of the centre. Dronesafe map says no fly but the DJI app is fine?

Funnily enough i saw 2 drones being flown near Kings College which is inside the Dronesafe FRZ but come to the edge, they other day - could have been just doing something wrong I guess, but if DJI app does not flag an alert, can I fly?

Your responsible for checking other stuff other than DJI's app as its not always correct. I usually use Airmap before I fly and request LAANC if needed (You are in Uk doesnt apply)

NEVER rely on the DJI app to be accurate. Sometimes it is overly restrictive and other times it is not restrictive enough. Always refer to the source data from the aeronautical authority in your country.

I live less than a mile from east Midlands Airport
My drone will not take off anywhere within the 5km shaded area on the app.
Have tried it just inside the no fly zone by a couple of hundred feet and it won't have it.
Not a problem as I new this was the case
The only thing is that there's donington hall a stones throw away from my house and I would love to fly around it

Problem is that your post said "Airman" and I had no idea what that was.

Also Airmap is still not the definitive source so it can also be wrong. If you get in trouble because you fly somewhere that you shouldn't, you can't use the excuse that "AirMap said it was good".

Although AirMap is far better and more accurate than the DJI app, it still can (and has been) wrong. Here in the USA, the definitive source is always the FAA. That means you should consult the VFR sectional charts, UAS facilities chart, and NOTAMs/TFRs for where you are flying.

Does not matter if you are recreational or commercial since controlled airspace is the same for all of us. Neither AirMap nor common sense (by themselves) will allow you to fly legally. Will you get in trouble by relying solely on AirMap? Likely not, since generally it is pretty good. Is it perfect and thus can it guarantee you won't get in trouble? Definitely not.

It just comes down to how prepared you want to be. When dealing with the NAS, I tend to err on the side of extreme caution and being totally prepared.

I hear you, understand you... But I also speed a little occasionally if it looks like it's gonna be acceptable on a highway. I accept the risks of the speeding ticket but if I am speeding I'm not doing it in an unsafe way to endanger people.

I speed a little, too, as does everyone on our Detroit freeways. But you're looking at the wrong risks. The risk to be concerned with is not the ticket, but the (unlikely) chance that speeding will result in an accident that will kill you and the six children in the car you hit. The risk to be concerned with in flying is the (also unlikely) chance that you'll bring down an airplane with who knows how many on board, killing who knows how many more on the ground. You've got to know what you're doing in controlled airspace.
