I live in a zero altitude LAANC area but I can apply for authorization using a waiver but how long does it last because I fly recreational and i don't see how its worth it if i have to renew it every time I want to fly and I cant find anything on this topic no matter how long or hard I search.

Recreational flyers cannot apply for permission to fly higher than UASFM limits. Only Part 107 folks can. And it would be an airspace authorization, not a waiver.

Just be lucky you can fly recreational in LAANC. I live somewhere in one of the grids and was flying recreational drones when there was a time we were not allowed to gain authorization and flying was prohibited 24/7. I had to seek Class G airspace if I wanted to fly my drone.

Now we are stuck with the grid numbers which is fine (unless youre in zero I guess) but still can't fly at night (no LAANC after dark is crazy). I supposed you could get authorization for that but you shouldn't have to when it's right there in the app.

You can fly at night in controlled airspace as a rec flyer with LAANC or Authorization.

Ok I'll guess because my airport is "closed" my attempts to get LAANC after 9pm fail. Maybe it's a local thing.....
If the airport closes at night, you don't need LAANC.

thank you for the clarification on that and I had no clue only part 107 ops can apply for that but is there anyway I can fly legally or do I just have to go outside of the 0 altitude range because the only way I know of that I can fly is inside my house but my air 3 isn't necessarily the best indoor drone let alone the tight space in my house. I can fly it in my house but any loose/light objects will get blown around.

Put the airport identifier in the search bar here. It will tell you if your airport turns to G at night.

AIRSPACE: CLASS D svc 1300–0300Z‡; other times CLASS G

Amazing. Wish Air Control would have told me this (instead of the failure message), there were times where I hit the hour and land my drone thinking my time was up. This changes a lot of me; thanks again.

The FAA does not regulate indoor flight with your drone.

If you are a recreational pilot you cannot get authorization to fly in a 0 grid area, nor can LAANC grid values be exceeded.

Pilots with a §107 certification can apply to the DroneZone for authorization to exceed the grid values.

I'll ask Jon about that feature. Air Control and other LAANC apps work off of data sets given to them by the FAA. I'm not sure if there is a way to set the app up for that.

I'll probably see him or Josh at the Drone Responders Conference next week. If not, I'll email him.
