I kinda have two questions, one of which may go away with software update.

1) I was taking photos for a local real estate agent, and I got a message across the screen saying I was in a hazardous area and do I accept all responsibility? I pressed Yes, but the message never went away. I had to take all the photos with this message blocking my screen. Hopefully software update will rectify.

2) how many neighbors do I need to notify that I am taking photos of a home? I notify the surrounding 8 homes, (2 on either side, 3 behind, and 3 across the street in front) yet I still have had 2 spereate occasions where neighbors beyond those immediate 8 approaches me in a very threatening manner. I have beeen able to reassure and deescalate the confrontations, but would rather not have them at all.

Thoughts?

Where are you? In the US you don't need to notify any neighbors, just don't invade their privacy either. I'm not sure about other countries.

I used to get that message in the DJI app, but it always went away. I've been using Litchi for some time now so I can't speak about if it's a new bug, etc..

You don't need to notify any of the neighbors. As you say, it's a courtesy.

Do you have your Part 107 certificate? I would think studying for it would have addressed the rules on this.

In a residential neighborhood in Delaware. I knock on their doors as a courtesy.

We do the exact same thing. It's a very good courtesy and it's gained us additional business on a couple of occasions.

You just make your best effort to notify the ones within reason and deal with the rest.

When that message box comes up there is a little (tiny box) mid way down on the right side that you must tick. Message will then go away....it is difficult to see.

^ This . Its a super small square box and the color of the box is not using a super bright color and its a bit muted in color so it makes it tough to see. Lower right hand corner. Look closely and you will see it.

You can also print notifications on card stock. 8 1/2" x 11 " and then print multiple on that size card stock. Then cut them down to make your own notification cards that can be slipped into the area between the door and the door jamb. This way you can add advertisements to the card stock -i.e. Logo , Business name , etc.

If a neighbor is not home when you visit then they still get notification.

Legally as mentioned you are not required to notify anyone neighboring a home you are shooting for business purposes. You should be FAA Part 107 Licensed for drone commercial flights.

Consider getting the FAA Certified Pilots Vest to be worn while flying. It gives one a more official look and may help with those troubling interactions.

Here is one , but there are multiple sites that have them for sale.

#1 best reason why you SHOULD notify immediate neighbors of what you will be doing:

And as for the warning messages, check a sectional chart of where you are flying to be sure you are in uncontrolled airspace and that there are not any airports nearby.

Answer to #1. On the right side of the message box there is a small blue circle. Tap it and a check mark will appear. Then tap the YES at the bottom of the screen. Good to go. I believe this message will appear when you gly in any restricted space, regardless of your LAANC authorization.

Thanks to everyone with your responses. I am Part 107 certified, but no, I don’t recall anything in the regs mentioning RE photo flights nor dealing with certain people.

The day was bright and sunny, I have not seen the message since that day (and updating software). I must have missed the checkbox. The photos turned out pretty good regardless.

Thanks again for the responses.
