Hello! I'm making my budget to gonna buy in these months the Mavic 4 Pro and i'm making also with this my opperations for buying my storage for my futures hikes with the drone and i want to know in the heaviest case scenario how much storage per minute go taking videos files on the drone. So with this information i go know for my uses what i need more exactly in storage. Thanks!

I got this USB-C hub/SSD Enclosure that magnetically attaches to the back of my phone. It holds 2tb. I use it to offload my Cine drone with the phone as the computer, usb C to drone, USB c from hub to phone. Now it can take a few minutes, even with an SSD to offload 512gb, so best start with a full charge on the phone.

Hmm interested... So you have 2TB inside and with this the data that is placed directly on the SSD and not in the storage of the drone (sorry, but first time i discover magnetic SSD's and i has before see this thinking to a another system...)? And possibility with this to put a SD card and a microSD as extension? Also, how much taking your files at 6k record for a duration of a full battery of the drone?

Sorry I suppose I was not clear. I use this to remove the files from my Cine drone, so it can film more. You unfortunately cannot hook it directly to the drone. When I film in ProRes, usually I end up getting around like 512 gb per session before I run out of drone battery power. I have about a 50/50 ratio of flying time transiting to where I want to film and time filming. With 512gb, you usually run out of batteries you can carry in your backpack. I carry 5. If you want to use a smaller card, you can use a hub like this to dump the card contents onto the SSD. It does have built in card readers for both SD and SD Micro.

Interesting! I also have a 1tb sd card installed in the drone which is drone selectable for storage. I'm not a pro hence don't use very much storage for the little flying I do. I still like the idea of your external storage though. Which 2tb nvme ssd did you use?

I got the

TEAMGROUP MP44S SSD 2TB

off Amazon last time in December. They are $135 now. No issues transferring. I also use it for videos when I travel overseas. While the airlines have a selection of video the terminals do not. 8 hours at T4 in Heathrow is beyond boring. My last flight down to Namibia was 43 hours flying/terminals. Nice to have your own stuff to watch. I am obviously not the target market for much of their entertainment.

Ok i see. The solution i has thinking was to not pickup adapters for my drones and camera to buy a Windows Handheld compatible 2280 SSD solution to have the possibility to set a 4 or 8TB SSD on with a microSD port on the Handheld to transfert all the data of my camera and drone on it before place it on my laptop on the place where i have my bed and after the trip, place all of this in my Desktop and editing it if needed. Because sometimes i has think to do 2 days or 3 days of walking and sleep in nature before return to my checkpoint where is my bed. I dont know if it's a good idea for optimizing the place for more food and/or water compared to my 17" laptop or if it's better systems like your or more microSD card (where going the files of your system? Inside the internal memory or on a MicroSD/SD you place on your magnetic system to transfer the data from your drone to it?)? Why i have think to a Windows Handheld it's to get high capacity SSD without adapter and protect it with the Motherboard and the components of the device, smaller than a laptop in most part of cases, don't need adapters and don't need multiple microSD/SD cards (especially practice i has think when we have gloves in mountain to not manipulate cables and tiny things like microSD cards too much particulary if the ground is wet or if we are in snow). And Ayaneo with the new Next 2 in the domain prepare a solution like this and i don't know if it's a good idea to pickup something like this as mobile storage solution to set all the videos files of drone and camera at 4k, 6k and 8k i prevent budget to record or if something like your system is better to place in bag to not miss, get enough storage during the hike and the most place possible in bag for more usefull things like food or more external batteries. But you can tell me your opinion about Windows Handheld solution if you want ^^! Thanks to have reading this!

Hello! You have video systems that is compatible with 2230 SSD or you use it for another thing(s)? Why do you have buy one for Teamgroup? I see the price on it 60€ higher that somes other good brands manufacturer but maybe higher cost for EU? Excuse me if it's can be see that an excess of curiousity ^^'...

Frankly, could have used any form comparable SSD's. When I purchased it, it was the best for speed of transfer and price/availability. I like this kind of system due to the fact, I tend to always have a phone, regardless. I will hike 10-15 km out in the field. I am a geologist, so we go off to the middle of nowhere as a matter of course. I use the Cine drone for videos I do for entertainment. Same thing, you have to go far off the grid for good video. Originally I got this very small one, same internal SSD, but it lacks the hub ability. Ends up as too many cables and parts. I wish it was a 4 Tb system, but the SSD enclosures and the SSD's themselves apparently max out at 2 Tb. I can hook th small one to the hub, so I do have 4 Tb available if I need it. Just as of yet, it has not come to that, Always run out of battery before I get to that much storage requirement.
