1080p at 24 or 30 FPS works for me most of the time. It should upload in HD and look decent.

Noticed this only now from a year ago **
You may have found the answer by now.
I uploaded a 4k file to YouTube yesterday .
YouTube are now supporting upto 2160p 2k although this may be available to 4k..
Anyway looked flipn amazing **!!!
Seriously it looked close match to my straight off 4k SD card
Give it a go
