Register drone with FAA (FAADroneZone)
"Have a DJI online account. Get ""DJI GO 4"" app on DJI website (see next)"
Have your device for attachment to controller: Usually cell phone or spare cell phone with wifi
"Install ""DJI GO 4"" app on cell. (This runs your visual flight and settings)"
"Note, there are flight controls and minimum duplicate settings on controller"
Controller can fly airplane without cell phone working in a pinch
DJI GO 4 is the main place to change all drone settings
Note: Personal setting will be lost in any up grade.
How to upgrade firmware: Android (DJI GO 4 app on cell will inform you of upgrade need-in red)
On your computer, with internet:
"Download from DJI.com: program: DJI Assistant 2 for Mavic, (is compatible with Mavic 2 pro)"
Start DJI Assistant 2 for Mavic on computer (Flight controller does not need to be on)
SIGN IN USING DLJ PASS WORD
Drone: Plug into small port of bird with black supplied DJI cord and plug into USB port.
"Start bird, find new firmware, and start process. Note battery has to be above 50%"
Download-Transmit-Update figure an hour for drone and controller
"After upgrade to drone, then upgrade controller using WIFI"
"Fight control modifications, will have to be reset after upgrades"
This upgrade, I read gives you ability to plan a course using way-points.
Mavic Assistant 2 program is for goggle updates
