This oil tanker (I think that's what it's called), was being escorted out of the bay, heading out into the Gulf of Mexico in Tampa. I had to fly about a mile and a half to get this shot. I'm still a newbie, so any constructive criticism is welcome! :)

Your ship isn't a tanker (they carry liquid cargo), it looks like a bulk carrier but it's actually a large barge with a tugboat that fits into the back of the barge.
It has been unloading coal for the power station.
Ahhh, well thank you for the free education! :) I had no idea...it just looked like an oil tanker to me, but now I'll be more aware next time I see one like it! Thank you for clarifying!

Your orange ship isn't a tanker (they carry liquid cargo), it's a 656 ft long bulk carrier.
You can see it has 5 large hatch covers and cranes that can be used for loading/unloading the cargo.
The other one is actually a large barge with a tugboat that fits into the back of the barge.
It has been unloading coal for the power station.

Catch them earlier if possible, good to get some all round footage.

If you go to Marine Traffic you can find out the names and destinations of the ships in your area.

You can also find out the type of vessel and a lot more information.
Wow, interesting site. The Live Map makes the planet's waterways look busier than the I-10/405 interchange at 4PM.

What did you fly? a Mavic 2? Zoom? Just wondering why you didn't go closer. LOL
I have a Mavic Pro 2. I wanted to get closer, but I was already a mile and a half out, and didn't want to push it since it was going away from me. I was just playing it safe...didn't want to lose my baby in Tampa Bay. Trust me, I did want to do a circle around it, up close! :)

Wow...awesome!!! I'll definitely be using that tool website!! :)
They have a good mobile app that's a very useful tool for anyone flying at sea like I do.
I can check the real wind speed being recorded by the ships near where I fly.
That's way better than any forecast app.

Thank you! I downloaded it a few hours ago, and wow, what a great tool!! Now I can plan ahead for the Varnivsl and NCL ships arriving and departing from Tampa, and get some excellent aerial video! Much appreciated!
