I have a Mini for 6 months, but want more features... mainly the variety that the 2017 DJI Mavic Pro has. Much cheaper that the newer Mavics! Any thoughts on this older drone & what to be careful of before purchasing? TY in advance.

I say wait for the SDK before making any other big money moves.

Litchi might support everything you are looking for.

If you're headed toward upgrade, perhaps you should look into a refurbished M2 either zoom or pro. While the Mavic Pro is capable, a refurb of a newer model shouldn't be that much more expensive. Alternately, I think given a choice between a Mavic Pro and a Mavic Air 2, I think the MA2 is really tough to beat at its price point. JMO

I received a MPP as a gift last year as a first drone and there has been a bit of a learning curve but I absolutely love it. That being said and knowing what I have picked up here and there my biggest concern with recommending this model to someone would be the availability of batteries in the future. The drone itself does everything I need as a old man that flys conservatively and enjoys aerial photography as a hobby.

It is, I agree. But... the Mavic Pro has so much in way of intelligent flight modes. And I see the Mini I have will NEVER be able to do Litchi Waypoints, from what I read. Maybe 'Follow Me' - whoopie! Maybe the MA2 will end up in the same boat. SDK/Waiting, SDK/Waiting....Guess waiting and hoping for certain updates that may or may not come, for whatever reason... could go on forever? The Mavic Pro has what I want already baked in. But, trying to buy one on these crazy sites, at a reasonable price... is fast becoming a nightmare, and maybe a gamble?? Oh me oh my - lol. TY for your feedback.

I'd look at the Mavic Pro Platinum is a quiet DJI drone, has great flight time and it has only been recently discontinued so parts and batteries are still available.
I actually use my MP batteries with my MPP as they are essentially the same AC.

There are third party batteries so that would be less of a concern.

Well, I will see for myself soon. Mavic Pro is to arrive in a week. :p I have an iPhone 8 Plus with very latest IOS & a Mavic Mini, & a 'Hobbyist' Dronelink App. I'm not having much luck, but Dronelink is great at responding to questions I have. But still, from what I am reading, the iPhone 8 Plus is barely powerful enough to run Missions. Mini+Phone... seem borderline for this Dronelink App...IMHO. I do love the fact Dronelink Missions can be viewed/run in 2 D in the App and even in 3 D in Google Earth- to literally preview your flight before going to the practice field- a big help!! wow!! So... I'm very curious to see how the ol Mavic Pro will do with Litch & the iPhone 8 Plus? It 'should'??? be plenty of phone for both the drone & Litchi Waypoints? (from what I'm seeing on dozens of YouTubes)
