I am having a hard time deciding between the Air 2 Fly More combo and the Autel Evo 2.. I own the MPP and love it and like the specs of the MA2 but like the freedom of the Autel and it's sensors. The cameras are of little consequence as they both will do more than I will ever need. I do like the smaller size of the MA2...

At the moment the Evo 2 is having serious issues with the last firmware update. Otherwise it's an incredible bird. I have the MA2 and love it and I'm part of the Autel forum, and have been for many years (because I owned the XSP for years but just sold it because Autel discontinued batteries for it) but the problem hasn't been fixed yet for the Evo 2.
Benefits of the Evo is the NFZ's will not ground you. Overall I would say I think the Evo 2 is better because it has more features but you absolutely can't go wrong with the MA2 from what I've experienced so far.

the freedom of the Autel and it's sensors.

Do you mean side sensors for obstacle avoidance?

I personally wouldn't rely on sensors. There's too much that can go wrong (poor light, branches, cables etc). I think of it like a bullet proof vest. You hope it will save you if you get hit... but ideally, you are going to behave as if every bullet is potentially fatal regardless.

So for me, the question is whether the price difference is worth the improved specs.

Also, I recall watching a comparison video (between Mavic 2 Pro and Autel Evo 2) and the reviewer said that Autel flight characteristics are inferior... Less image stability and less agility in the air. I'm not sure if those problems have been fixed by software updates since that review. It's something to look into.

I'm sure that review was from someone that normally flew a DJI product. The two birds definately have different flight characteristics and most that I have seen from the Autel forum that previously came from a DJI product say they got used to it and prefer it after they got used to it.

I recently purchased the EVO 2 Pro and I made a Wet Suit for it to fly in the Rain .

I also have a client who was sending me pictures of both the Evo 2 shots and the M2 pro shots and there was no question about it the M2 Pro shots were crisp , clean , and on focus.

There is so much more Love/support and passion in the Mavic Forums not to mention third party accessories.
This is why when you Purchase a DJI drone your also being supported by those that fly them.

Just based on how many updates have taken place since I got the drone is enough to tell me there not quite there yet . Something to consider as other posters have mentioned.

Like @Tufargon I have an X-Star (haven't sold it yet, still hoping a 3rd party will start making batteries) as my backup. My biggest issue with Autel drones is the yaw is very fast and not smooth even turning the expo settings down. Trying to get a smooth turn takes lots of practice. I've heard people complain about that with the Evo I & II as well so it seems to still be an issue with the newer machines too.The cameras are grat though, my X-Star from 2016 still takes great pictures and awesome 4k video. Since I got my MA2 though, understandably, it's gathering dust...

I personally was thinking on get an Evo2Pro as well because the hardware specs are impressive but the software is having serious problems as @Phantomrain.org says. I start reading and much people are complaining specially in the last 2 past firmware. I guess DJI has much more experience in advantage over Autel. I hope Autel catch up because I really like the Evo2 specs, however, we need to see what DJI came with the M3.
