I'm tired of wondering....I'm tired of placing my led strobes on it and wondering...its over the 249.9 I place the prop guards on, and wonder does the guards counts as drone weight. I placed a label on it with a if found please call ×××-×××-×××× and now its 250. So I registered so if I get stopped and the authorities know the laws, I'm covered....but I have a question, does the authority carry a weight scale with them just to weigh drones in question?

It wouldn't be that surprising if the cops in cars carried a balance with them

reason for edit missed n't off would, whooops. Sorry Zocalo

It would indeed. However, in the event of an incident and a drone getting seized as a result it would surely get weighed to ensure compliance with regulations. Not sure where OP is, but in the EU/UK it's stipulated as a 250g *takeoff* weight, and it's the pilots responsibility to ensure an aircraft is in compliance. A specified weight of 249g is cutting it awfully fine IMHO, especially if you allow for the sticker and some wiggle-room in manufacturing tolerances. It's much clearer if you're adding things like prop-guards, filters, or strobes though - in that case it probably ought to be registered.

I would guess that they carry scales if they also do drug enforcement! (g)

for me with other drones ,then registration was not an issue ,and even if you only have the one drone a MM then registering it and doing the flyer id test shows that you have read up on the rules etc which can only be positive

The "Aircraft Weight" is everything attached to the aircraft and in the air. EVERYTHING!

No LEO probably aren't going to care about the precise weight of the aircraft but as stated above, if there is an incident weight could come into play.

If you registered your covered.no scale Just fly. Only need anti collision lighting at dusk, dawn or night to be compliant

Like I mentioned I don’t need to be the one that has a incident and the AC is placed on a scale because the law has to dot the I and cross well, you know what I mean. I do not want to be the one that makes the news that a man flew a drone that was .0001 G over the weight limit and let’s fine him $5000 or what ever the fines are.
