I Think This Was Pilot Error!

have RTH set to hover
Yea, I really wish it had that option. That's the first thing I thought about on a run when my inattention to the tablet allowed the battery to run down and the display died. I thought "It's going to RTH and straight up into the trees!!!" But no, still had full control just no display. Still, I would love to be able to set it to hover when doing this.

I love the fact that you are 67 and willing to learn a new skill, discover new stuff...like quads.
Yea, that;'s why I am doing it now - before I get old........................ ;)

No signal only kicks in if loss is between RC and AC. App connection to RC is not relevant. But with Android and 3 batteries, you could run down the RC to nothing.

Its a shame I wasn't recording when I was flying around my house yesterday and someone decided to turn some lights off upstairs. I was beyond VLOS as I was downstairs and I was being clever exploring upstairs. The lights went off making it rather dark and my bird decided it wanted to investigate a wall. No matter how much I tried pulling away from the wall it seemed to be more interested in it and gave it a kiss.

Wasn't wearing any protection either but the poor guy landed upside down with an arm folded in cuddling itself. I told it that it was a naughty boy and made it fly around the house some more. Today was poo weather (that is an official term) so it didnt get to go for a shake down test outside but visually it looks okay.

i managed to fly today, have some patience or you will have nothing left to fly if you keep kissing walls tomorrows looking promising in my part of the UK hope you get out then

Tomorrow is looking good tomorrow too for me. I was doing okay in the house and decided against prop guards until the lights went dim then when the sensors decided they had no idea what was going on it just decided to keep on moving. Prop guards would have made it okay but hey, you live and learn.

Tomorrow I need to get over into the field to give it a proper shake down test to see if anything is up. Whenever I change something or ding something I always need to give it a good shake down. RC car... real car etc etc.

That's when the prop cage comes in handy, and to just land and retrieve.
I had a similar encounter where MM drifted left/right in darken hallway. I just had it land, which it did, sliding down along the wall.
