Ensuring I wasn’t flying over people was a challenge and I spent a lot of time looking straight down for a path that would ensure I was flying safely within the rules. We had to get FAA permission on the first stretch on the river but that was a simple LAANC. The low flying airplanes and helicopters kept us on our toes for sure. We would sometimes hear them before we’d see them. I spent a lot of time at 50 feet for that exact reason. This is a Insta 360 camera at the start and the drone footage is all Mavic 3 Pro. Hope you enjoy it.

Nicely done! Wow...starting in Fairbanks...that's quite a change!

One great enjoyable video you have created. For me, your narration was spot on and loved it. Wish there would have been more.
Thank you for sharing this with us.

An amazing video for me because I've always been intrigued by this amazing journey. And how these sled dogs can output an incredible amount of energy on a daily basis for 1100 miles in these conditions. Now were expecting you to follow and film the the teams for the duration of the race. See you at Nome 😁

I'm an avid follower of the Iditarod, year after year.
What some folks don't know is that the musher's have to carry food for the dogs and bedding in the frigid nights that follow.
The dogs are hauling a lot of cargo.
Many rest stops are alone at night in frigid temps well below zero.
It's a must if you want to be first across the finish line.
It is a grueling jaunt for sure to Nome Alaska.

Thank you sir, so much for sharing.

Nice work. Just the right amount of narration. Nice sound, too. Thanks.
As I'm sure you realize the drone can't get any sound so I put my iPhone out on the hood of my car and recorded the dogs barking for a long time and just spliced that in :). Although it's fake...I think it worked well for most folks.

It was +15F when we were filming. That's actually a bit hot for the dogs but perhaps better than some years. I manned a checkpoint at the old town of Iditarod years ago and slept out with no tent at -40F. That was a few cold nights.

Nicely done! I enjoyed that - not often we get to see things not normally seen. Usually, they are following the teams on the course, not so much of the rest periods.

Excellent work! Totally enjoyable watching from start to the very end, especially from hot Australian summer🙂. Smooth flying, nice tracking shots, good audio with nice narration and just the right amount of background ambient sound. Very polished product all in all. Thanks for sharing!

that was in my mind when filming...not a lot of videos with rest stops as a part of the video

Really nice job with the video!

My favorite part was, "Who wants a free drone? Yeah, ain't going to happen." 😂

Loved it. I’m going to Google it to find out how they steer them.

Me too. I was curious if the dogs all have and keep their assigned spots in all races based on their strength and personality or whether they are randomly switched. Its very cool to see the dogs barking and trucking along like they are doing exactly what they love to do. I just could not help but wonder whether every dog has his place in that pack and whether aspiring and training to be the #1 top dawg is like a thing.
