I got a new Mavic Pro 3 and noticed something strange that wasn't the case on my old pro 2.
I took off and while I was changing the RTH altitude, I noticed the Max altitude was 500m but the slider was only half way across, I dragged the slider and to my surprise the slider went to 1000m. It gave me a pop up warning but nothing else. I was near mountains that are over 500m so I had to test it and sure enough i went to 520m without warning or stopping like my old MP2 would have. I landed after that, but thought it odd that it was locked on the old version but not the 3. Is this normal behavior for the pro 3?
Thanks

I think it is restricted to certain areas, possibly places in the USA or N.American continent.

It is only available when you are more than 50km from the nearest airport, and on newer FW and have updated to the corresponding Fly version. I don't believe it was ever added to GO 4, which is what the Mavic 2 Pro uses.

It actually is more of a hassle than it is worth, because of the boneheaded method of implementation by DJI. It puts an opaque gray altitude layer over the map everywhere except where it is 1000m! In order to see the maps everywhere else, you have to completely turn off the Altitude layer in Maps, depriving you of all other Altitude related limitations!

Seemingly my Mavic 4 can only reach 500m. My Air3S can reach 1000m. What's going on, does somebody know about that issue on the new Mavic 4? I am in Norway.

A better question might be, What's going on with your Air 3S?
Most DJI consumer drones have a Max Height of 500 metres higher than launch point.

In Norway max height from launch point is 1000m for Air3S and Mavic 3. In Norway there are mountains so the difference is of huge importance. In Denmark 120m is enough :)

And now, after firmware update, the limit is 1000 meters for my Mavic 4 as well.

The max altitude allowed on the Mavic 3 is 1000 meters. But only in certain areas. It will automatically change to 500m in restricted areas.

Under GEO, when you are more than 50km from the nearest airport, it is 1000m rather than 500m. When GEO was removed in the U.S., the Air 3S and Mavic 3 series were upgraded to 1000m everywhere in the U.S. but in San Diego, where Mexican GEO bleeds across the border into the U.S. from the Tijuana airport's 50km radius of 500m. All other drones remain at 500m max.

The Mavic 4 Pro's max height is treated the same as the Mavic 3 series and Air 3S in the U.S. and internationally.
