I may have answered my own question. Using the go4 app on the old phone, went to yesterday's flight site via the map portion, then shut the wifi off. Zooming out the app only displays that portion of the world in the maps display. Yesterday the map came in handy, as when I was bringing the aircraft home, I noticed I was getting close to the road, which is lined with high power lines.
