Is calibration necessary?

Just got my Mavic 2 days ago, firmware updated and flown twice... But I haven't calibrated it. Flew perfectly. Is it necessary or the firmware update took care of this?

They've made it simple now , if it's green you're good to go . I've checked all the numbers on mine IMU & compass they're perfect and within normal limits with zero calibrations , I guess with technology these things just keep getting better

I would go out into an open field and calibrate the compass.
You should at least calibrate it one time when you receive it and also again if you update the firmware.

Are you referring to calibrating the compass? If so, check out this guide for the best practices.

I got mine last week, did all the updates, did the compass, flew 15 plus flights then today I got a very strange gimbal overload error? I did the IMU and Compass calibrate and it seems to be ok now. Have no idea what happened.... Im new to this also. Happy flying!
