Hello, is there a good app I can use on my Android phone so I can use LAANC if and when necessary? I am still a newbie still--under 5 hours flying--but trying to fly a few days each week, weather permitting. There are a few small, local airports near me, and one large airport about 20 miles away. I just want to make sure I'm doing everything legally, and if I need to use LAANC, I'd like to use and have an app to access it, IF that's how it's done??? THANKS.

AirMap is probably the most commonly used app. You can find a list of all supported apps here:

If you're flying recreationally, you won't be able to use LAANC until July 23rd.

Thanks. I am flying recreationallly and I've been reading that LAANC will be available in a few days, so I was wondering what app is best for that. THANKS!

You would only need LAANC if you are flying in controlled airspace. From your description of your area, you are not in any. Check to be sure. This map shows where you need an authorization, and where LAANC will be available.

THanks. Yes, fortunately, right here where I live, I'm okay, but if I take my drone to other places--like visiting my friends and family in other states, I'd just like to make sure my flights will okay and "Laanc'ed" if need be. :-)

I prefer AirMap also. The entire list is near the bottom of this web page from FAA. You will need to have a part 107.

THANKS. but please correct me if I'm wrong, LAANC will be available for recreational fliers--of which I am currently one--in a few days, from my understanding of what I've been reading here on the forum and on the FAA website.

The beginning of that site provides info about recreational fliers being brought in to the program. It has a link about how to use the program.

Thanks. I will check it out again, especially since it's getting close to the release date.

The Kittyhawk app has the functionality. I’ve poked around at it but I haven’t used it yet, i just got my m2p and flew it for the first time today. I might use laanc this weekend, it seems pretty straight forward.

You got it. As I stated above, LAANC is supposed to be available for hobbyists on July 23rd.
