Issues connecting

Hi - I have just bought my first drone a spark and have got the bug and love it ! Just bought crystal sky 5.5 and the new mount and plan to upgrade to the mavic once thx new one available . I am finding no matter which order I power anything on it will not automatically connect the heli until I disconnect and replug the otg cable in and out from the Rc. What am I doing wrong ?!?
