Issues with Customs and the AIR 3 S

I ordered mine last year not long after it has just came out, late Oct. or early Nov. I bought it direct from DJI and chose the fastest shipping (next-day I believe) and did not have any issues receiving mine while others were.

I wouldn’t call it a nightmare, but it certainly has been frustrating. I just received, after 4 days of hassling DHL daily (they’ve been helping) and finally provided CBP with acceptable proof of my identity, address, SS#:

“Notification for shipment event group "Customs clearance" for 24 Oct 24.”
👍🏻🤞🏻🙏🏻
Did customs contact you be chance i ordered the air 3S three weeks ago, customs held it up for 4 days. then sent it back to DJI where i still waiting to get a new conformation to know there sending it back out. i was never notified untill they sent it back.

With things how they are right now, it's possible that the shipping companies don't know what's going on with imports and possible tariffs and such. There's also a lot of confusion over what countries are allowed to ship what items to the US.
The bottom line is there's not a ton of consistency as to what's going on so it's really not possible to give an answer regarding shipping and customs from other countries.

Drone Nerds is based out of Florida and as of this morning, has 3s in stock. Ordered mine on a Wednesday, it arrived following Tuesday via FedEx.
Drone Nerds is a class act, don’t know why you would subject yourself to international shipping issues when there are state side options.

I just ordered the Fly More with RC-2 this afternoon, FedEx says delivery on Tuesday. They have free shipping, but FedEx was only $14 and change.... since I'm spending $1,600 I may as well spend for a bit quicker shipping.

Oh, and they didn't charge sales tax like DJI does. so it was straight up $1,599.

If DJI would open a manufacturing plant here in the USA, this would all be a thing of the past.

US citizens working in a Chinese factory building Chinese drones? That's wrong on so many levels, I wouldn't even know where to begin with that....

No only DHL contacted me, I did everything through them. I think on one of the notifications they mentioned if I don’t supply the necessary information by a certain date the package would be shipped back to DJI. I took care of it the same day. It’s not a clear procedure at all, you have to take the initiative in following up/checking on status. All of a sudden via a tracking check, I saw that it left the port of Los Angeles, which meant I satisfied Customs…

FWIW, a company I work with buys office paper by the pallet. The paper they have been getting, for years, comes from overseas.
Today they went to order more and it's, surprisingly, on back order.
Luckily there's a few other options but the supplier said they don't know when, if ever, they will be able to get that paper again.
Yes, it's related to the drone importing issues.

You will see my other posts in other threads but my Air3s is stuck in buffalo. Since December 18th with no end in sight. Even with “Return to Shipper” request filed twice. The first was January 7th. After that, just a daily scan in the warehouse with no other movement, no refund, and me trying to chase it down with what doesn’t seem to be much help from Customs, UPS, or the seller. Seems silly that one arm of the government allows you to register and fly an Air 3s and the Customs arm of the government is just randomly stopping shipments and then just sitting on them. Really frustrating.
