10 miles from Brighton. Have you got any good suggestions for me to drone up north

I'm afraid not....well, not YET anyway... as I haven't got a drone yet!

Hoping to get it soon...and a have a few things I want to check out, Blackpool seafront being one of them.

I live very close to the lake district and I'm sure it will be a prime site for me.

Ok. To be honest with you I have 2 drones phantom 3 advanced and mavic. The phantoms camera is so much sharper and the focus is much better. Phantom 3 advanced wins for picture quality every time

Thanks for that...but I think the portability of the Mavic swings it for me...for now, anyway.

If I find that I need better quality and I find myself happy droning then I may look at alternatives.

If you have not already done so, check the CAA rules for flying UAV's.

To protect yourself in the case of an accident, insurance is a good idea. e.g. (BMFA) British Model Flying Association (UK). It costs £33 at the time of writing. Click on the link to view their web site :-

You can also insure your UAV against damage : -

Drone Insurance - Phantom Flight School

The next thing to do is join a flying club to learn the ropes. Its more than likely there will be members only too glad to help out with advice or find someone near you who has a Phantom. The golden rule :- Always get permission from the landowner to take off and land.

After some time, something to aim for is :-

You might like to try the following apps. The first one shows UK airspace and includes NOTAMS.

UK AirspaceAVOID for Pilots – Android Apps on Google Play and :- No Fly Drones

One item that I have found to be of great help is a clear coloured strobe. I affixed mine to the rear of my P3 and it is easily seen in daylight for some distance. It helps greatly to determine orientation.

Thanks for all you advise, I have had a quick look at the CAA websites far to many rules seems they just want to spoil peoples hobbies also very unenforceable laws.

Because of the hours I work I cant join a flying club and much happier flying on my own.

Insurance companies are all crooks in my opinion.

Yes of course I will search first as I don't like wasting peoples time or put my two pennyworth in were its not wanted.
