Landing Mavic Mini Left Stick Question

Hello,
I am a Phantom 3 flyer who just got a Mavic Mini.
Here’s my question...

On the P3 controller, I move my left stick down to lower the drone, and once landed, push it all the way down until it locks to shut off the motors.

The Mini does not have a locking position, and I seem to remember reading that if you push the stick all they way down it will shut off the motors.

As a result, I’m cautious when lowering the drone, not wanting to descend too fast and worry that if I do, the motors will shut off in the air.

I hope I’m wrong, but don’t want to risk a crash.

Hopefully someone can give me the right information.
By the way, I’m really liking this little guy!

Welcome to Mavic Pilots!
You should not need to worry. When holding the left stick down to land, the mini will hover at half a meter for 3 seconds while it checks the landing area. While still holding the stick down it will automatically control its own decent and landing. Motors will automatically shut down once landed.

Just to confirm then, no worries of shutting off the motors if I hold down the stick all the way just to lower my altitude?

You should not need to worry. When holding the left stick down to land, the mini will hover at half a meter for 3 seconds while it checks the landing area. While still holding the stick down it will automatically control its own decent and landing. Motors will automatically shut down once landed.

The emergency shutdown for the motors is hold both sticks down and in or down and out (i.e left to bottom left, right to bottom right or vice versa).
Holding the stick down just brings the drone down, and confirms you want to land. Motors only stop spinning once it has landed.

@BiillW There is no danger of stopping the propellors in mid air if you are holding the throttle closed, the drone needs to be stationary for that joystick position to stop the motors.
I made a mistake and my drone reached a height of 875ft ("why" and how is not relevant to this thread) bringing down I had the throttle fully closed all the way down to maybe 100ft. I have also done pure vertical descents from well over 100ft with the throttle fully closed all the way down to maybe 8ft.

The CSC maneuver is as with the Phantom 3, both sticks fully down/back and either in or out, as mentioned by BadWolf1,

BUT ..........it is questionable whether or not it will actually stop the motors in a normal flight IF THE CSC option is set to "Emergency only" mode.

In "anytime" mode the CSC will stop the motors in mid air if the CSC position is held for around 2 seconds. From memory this is an appreciably shorter delay than you might have found with the Phantom 3
