I have a job that requires video orbit of a large parcel of land. The customer wants a smooth orbit. I would like to use POI, but I don't think there is anything in the center to tie to. Any suggestions?

Waypoint mission with 6 to 8 WPs. Set a POI in the center and aim all WPs at it.

That's what I was thinking. I haven't set a SP for a large open area before, any advice? Also, I think they want it in smaller clips that can be stitched together probably BC it would otherwise be a huge file (4K 30 fps).

Also, its a square plot and I think they are looking for more of a round orbit.

That's why you use 6 or better 8 WPs. Just get far enough back that you get the 4 corners. The software should curve the changes in direction enough to not have it look choppy.

Not sure on this camera since I have not run a long enough continuous video; but in the past long videos were broken into 4GB chunks to be FAT32 compatible.

Actually smooth rounded corners. I am thinking WP with pauses to stop/start recording. Probably do the pauses on the four straigh legs and let it fly itself around the corners.

I did a practice yesterday on a small parking lot, and it worked well. I set WP mid-span on the long sides, and then each corner angled toward the center. I am thinking that I should fly the route to set the WP, save, and exit, and then RTH to replace the battery. I think the Air 3s can run the route on a single battery. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to execute the saved route.

Getting back far enough from 1 mile long sides to capture the whole parcel and then flying around all four sides will probably make your circle path 5 miles or a little more. Better have your global speed set above 15 mph to make it on one battery. Even in around 20 to 25 will be fine on that big of a circle.

I ran the WP mission twice, once each at 20mph and 26mph. One battery was enough for each. I think the 26mph looked better. I paused and restarted the mission and video in the middle'ish of each straight section as the customer wanted smaller files that they will put together in post. I set WP at the mid-points of each side and on each corner. It turned out good but next time I think I will set a WP close to each end of the straight sections. Having just one in the middle resulted in the AC taking a wide swing coming into and leaving each corner. I think WP near the ends would make for a shorter radius turn.

Good report for those wanting to do something similar.
