Launch point

Flying the drone (Mavic 3 licensed) today. Police stopped by and cautioned that I had to be 50m from the highway to launch. On reading the drone code I had not realised that when launching this also applied. I thought that once on the air the 50m law applied.

dumbass springs to mind...last time I read it (launch) applied to property or persons not in control of, so I guess that can also apply to highways

Thanks I Don,t know how it was stuck in my mind that the launch point was irrelevant. Lucky I did not argue with the policeman!

I suppose the logic would be that it is possible a car might be passing by your launch point, therefore you are violating the rule. But the same logic could apply to a person wandering around or loitering to watch you fly, making it impossible to land.
