As others have said, iPad mini works very well. The best two pilots I know (both work for la-drones) say they prefer iPhone despite smaller screen because of faster processor. Also, my iPad mini 4 freezes up pretty quickly in cold Chicago weather, but iPhone is better. I use both but much prefer iPad mini because of screen size. Very important, if you like to cache video, and there are many reasons to do so, get at least 64 gig of memory. I only have 16 gig and after every flight I have to delete all my video files, and thus lose the sound recorded by the iPad. It is very useful to talk about what and how you are filming—especially experimenting with camera settings, and intelligent flight modes.

dsmith76. How cold are you flying in? I have flown in -20f for a full battery and with several flights. Even with gloves, my fingers were frozen, but my flights were without incident. Using the iPad Mini 4.
