You'll need to start with DJI GO 4 since it must be used to activate your Mavic. After that point, you can venture on to other 3rd party apps if you'd like. DJI GO 4 might do everything you need though.
IMO, it depends what you want to do and what your personal preferences are. I use both.
For me I like the DJI GO4 app for just about everything except Waypoint Missions. I use Litchi to plan and execute Waypoint Missions. I find it very intuitive and user friendly.
Hi, this is a myth put out by people who just say things for the sake of it. It doesn't matter what app you are using, the same rules apply for all. It's unlikely that they would even ask you if you don't volunteer the information.
The actual app itself would not cause control difficulties with the Mavic any more than Go would as it's based on DJI's SDK. DJI actively encourage 3rd party developers.
