Litchi Go4 instead of Pilot.?

No - you can't fly a M2ED with GO4

Yes, thats what i thought..but then i just watched some guy doing it on youtube..a full 8 minute review..he grumbled a bit about not quite as good camera controls, but everything else seemed to work well..?

Oh I'm hopeless at this stuff...i tried to forward the link there, i really did...couldn't even find it..
I typed in 'litchi with enterprise Dual ' and it came up...just watched half of second vid also...not entirely usable, but certainly more features than Pilot...

You can fly a M2ED with Litchi, (or with GSPro) but you have no camera control in respect to thermal.
There is no possibility to switch between visual, IR and MSX. You can not enable or disable Isotherm in Litchi.

The camera controls wouldn't bother me in the short term. I was keener on things like active track (and SURELY there are sar and security scenarios requiring that..?! Track a floating dinghy while u ring the coastguard, track unidentified personnel on your property while you retrieve your hammer etc.), circling, a mild zoom function...Pilot seems so utterly humourless and light for the money..
Much like the guy in the video i thought i was getting essentially a m2 zoom with flir capability , and the price seemed to reflect that...
...maybe it's just the embarrassment of now having to tell my mates that no, we cannot do those planned Bbq group shots..!

Why can’t you do group bbq shots Gav? You just fly er up there, point the camera, do the old RC behind the back trick and press the button!

I mailed Litchi and asked the question direct..here is the rather curious response i received..

Litchi has basic support for this drone model however because we don’t have one we can not guarantee it will work well.

Did you offer them your help? That would be very nice.

Integrating that model in their environment is a straightforward task - just use the DJI SDK calls, modify the UI to have additional camera settings.

Finally - test fly the code in the real world with a real M2ED. If bugs found, fix them, test - ready, set, go.

If Litchi knows their business, your M2ED should only be used for a few days ...

Well that’s something I hadn’t really thought of. I think we tend to think of these 3rd party developers as being big corporations that have access to all the resources they want but most of the time it’s a small group of people probably working out of their home office. What they are saying is the M2ED works in principle but they don’t actually own one to test it on.

It would be interesting if you turned on the thermal camera in the pilot app and then switched to Litchi to see if it will work. I know Litchi is a lot of money to spend on something that you don’t know will work but might be worth the gamble

It'll work. The 'next' app will have the last active screen in Pilot. (RGB, IR or MSX)
But you can't change the screen in Litchi as you like.
Having the low-res thermal screen as FPV, it could be problematic.
