Loops at back of Mavic

Does anyone have an idea about what purpose the two loops at the back of the Mavic were intended to serve?

I think they are just landing gear and the holes make it lighter but not 100% there was not another purpose for them.

Since the front landing gear are simple posts, the inclusion of an "eye" in the back ones seems "suspicious" to me.

That makes sense. But I was wondering if someone had come up with a remote release mechanism.
