Lost my DJI mini 4 pro

It ceases to amaze me that people that ask for help and knowing they did something stupid to begin with are publicly telling everyone how stupid they are.
Case here in point.
If you're that stupid, a lobotomy comes to mind, really !
What?

Sharing your mistakes and flight log is. Thumbswayup

@maart85 doing this is awesome.

Him saying he made the same post on Reddit? If that is true yes that was. :rolleyes:

Its his thread, I was the first reply, most important the story is not over yet.

I won't reply to this post unless it is the original thread starter.

We all make mistakes, they also provide us with allot of future knowledge, even if the learning curve is very steep.

I did the same, also with the mini 4 pro. I was in luck there was no wind and I had equipped my drone with strobe lights. I started of with a full battery trying to find a football field nearby. I could hear the players and the ref's whistle. I was flying outside my VLOS and was looking at my screen. It just clicked in my head that I had no clue where my mini 4 was and pushed the return to home button. I was waiting in panic for it to return home. I could hear it at some point and then saw the strobelight passing over me, with no visible sign of it slowing down on my remote. I then cancelled the RTH and brought it home manually.

I would thank all of participating in this thread. I learned allot reading it.

Now you've done it!!
We're going to see a flood of stock reprimanders who will chide you for being outside VLOS. ~sigh

In addition to stickers with Reg# and Phone# on drone and battery, I have a photo that i keep on the SD card of a piece of paper with my name number and address. As well as a plea that say's "I'm a bad drone! I flew away and need to get back home".

The first thing after charging the drone battery and the RC 2 I did was to input the RTH settings for a battery level of 20% and a return height of 35 meters AGL. The 35 meter return height was to avoid any trees in the area on what can be hilly terrain. The RTH is also set to initiate when the signal to the RC is lost.

I have 5 batteries so no problem with starting each flight with a fully charged battery. At $65 a battery I find this to be cheap insurance to avoid loss or damage to the drone.

A locator is of little use if the drone lands on a roof or on water or on private property or on a roadway.

DJI makes it easy to have safer flying with the Mini 4 drone, but the default settings are not going to be optimum for everyone. Much easier than with my Phantom 4 drone.
