My next purchase is down to either the M2P or the M2P Zoom. Any views on either would be much appreciated. Thanks in anticipation.

If you looking for purity and hoping to squeeze every ounce of your photographic brilliance into a picture than you have to go with the Pro.

If your looking to get the most out of you drone overall than the zoom can fit that profile really well.

Zoom has two features that I do not want to fly without. That being said the zoom is really handy and keeps you safe and lessens temptation to get to close to things in general.
The Zoom also has this really cool feature that the Pro does not have and its called Super Rez and it puts together a 48 megapixel picture automatically without editing and i got hooked on that.

We bring the pictures in full size and crop it to 1/3 and we post them at the bottom of our website. . No matter how you go , your going to find some amazing joy in both mavics.
Those pictures are meant to be viewed on a 36 wide screen display or more.

Cutting edge Gear to fly your drone.

Here’s a quick comparison (pic below). Google reviews for more details. While Superres is not on the pro, there are a lot of personal considerations about money and what you want to do with the drone to consider. I went M2P FWIW.

I had two of each and just got rid of one Zoom. If you fly in any kind of low light, you'll appreciate the Pro more.
The Zoom is good for daytime, and is great when flying with a phone. I guided a pair of lost hikers off a mountain recently with an M2Z on an S9. 2x zoom is better than nothing.
Super resolution was a big disappointment for me and most of my shots turned out worse since the shutter speed needs to be slower when zoomed in.
360 spheres with the zoom seems to produce stitching errors in the app much more often than the Pros.
Dolly zoom gets old fast. They are also wavy and shaky all the time, which sort of defeats the purpose of a quick shot and you may as well do it in post.

Pro camera is vastly superior, destroys the Zoom in low light / night situations, and you can control the aperture which is a big deal.
Zoom has the advantage of being able to shoot visually closer without getting closer. The gimmicks (dolly, etc): meh.
You can buy either of them, buy the other camera as spare and then swap the cameras. Best of both worlds, like having both Mavic 2's, and you can always decide which camera to use depending of the scene.

I have the zoom, and intend to buy the Pro camera (only) when the price drops

A zoom feature that I don't see mentioned is a compression of the background; typical of all zoom lenses. Low to the ground, this can make a good shot. Up high it is not applicable.

From a professional source, an analysis recommended:

Video - Zoom
Photography - Pro

Hey
I would highly reccomend the Mavic 2 Zoom.
If your coming from No Drone, You wont notice any lacking of video quality.
You will just be impressed all over the place.

If you are coming from Mavic Pro (after all the Ooh Kool new box, fwoah Shiny IR sensors,Fuzzy plastic texture, etc);
The Zoom camera Quality will impress the( Mod Removed language )out of you.
out of you. Your best MP footage will get shelved for the most mundane scene shot with M2Z

And trust me, the moment you go to adjust the EV and discover that it adjust the Camera Zoom, well...
I dont think anyone at that moment wished they had gotten a PRO.

So yeh the only logical reason to get a PRO is if you have gone through Zoom, and are truly wanting for better picture
(most probably in Low light). And here you have option of saving up for a PRO gimbal.

Theres alot of "PRO's" out there who got it just cuz 'it's the best' and they are really just missing out
imho. So..yeh M2Z equals :)

Your question reminds of the old rhetorical discussion on the question of "Ginger or MaryAnn". Both the 2 zoom and 2 pro off great photo possibilities. In an ideal world (ie...won a lotto) I would have both. I was leaning toward the zoom but ended up with the 2 pro. What swayed me was the potential difference in photo quality and flexibility in lighting conditions. Also, you can always crop and zoom in post. Regardless of which one you choose, I think you'll be happy, but you have to sit back and think about what you would like to shoot and what best fits your style. Good luck on your decision, and let us know if you got "Ginger" or "MaryAnn".

Guys, don't derail. ?

OP, I saw a few folks sell the "super res" portion the zoom does. FYI, it only works in scenarios where nothing is moving, otherwise you get blurry objects. You can make your own super res in post on Photoshop with the m2pro and the result will be far better than the zoom does.

It's a no brainer, go with the pro!

Just cleaned up the thread to keep it on topic with the OP’s question so that he gets the help he asked for. Please try to stay on topic. Thanks all.

Buy one of each. At least the batteries are interchangeable. The zoom feature is awesome especially if you are flying in dangerous areas like near trains or anywhere in which you can’t or shouldn’t get to close... people too.. the pro takes amazing photos..

If you seriously into photography I guess I’d pick the pro. I intend to buy a pro to add to my fleet in the next year . Currently I own zoom but I fly with guys who have the pro.

Great choice. You can buy the Zoom gimbal/camera assembly from AliExpress for $239, if you are ever curious about the difference, and do the swap in 10 minutes! I did, and then bought a second new M2 bare aircraft for $650 from HobbyLobby.com so I don't have to keep switching cameras in the field. Saves $400 over buying the full Zoom kit, and I just use the same muted controller and batteries with both. Takes just 15 seconds to bind the controller to the other aircraft. Great set up for me!
