This is from ChatGPT query. So only 7 more months before they are ban because the risk assessment doesn’t get done.

As of May 28, 2025, the mandated national security risk assessment of DJI drones, as stipulated by the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), has not yet commenced. The NDAA requires that an "appropriate national security agency" conduct this assessment to determine whether DJI's products pose a threat to U.S. national security. However, no specific agency has been designated to carry out this evaluation, and no timeline has been established for its initiation.viewpoints.dji.comRest of World

The legislation includes a provision that if the risk assessment is not completed by December 31, 2025, DJI will be automatically added to the Federal Communications Commission's (FCC) Covered List. This designation would prohibit the sale of new DJI products and restrict firmware updates for existing devices in the U.S. The FCC's Covered List identifies equipment and services deemed to pose an unacceptable risk to national security .Drone Law and Drone Attorney Assistance+1Rest of World+1

DJI has proactively requested that the top five U.S. national security agencies conduct the required evaluation before the end-of-year deadline. The company has expressed its willingness to demonstrate its privacy controls and security features, emphasizing the importance of a fair and evidence-based assessment process .DroneDJRest of World+2viewpoints.dji.com+2Reddit+2

In the absence of a designated agency and a clear assessment timeline, the future availability of DJI drones, including the Mavic 4 Pro and the anticipated Mini 5 Pro, in the U.S. market remains uncertain. The outcome of this situation will significantly impact consumers, businesses, and public safety agencies that rely on DJI's drone technology.

Then, and correct me if I am wrong, we shouldn't be relying on its 'facts' should we ?! There is sometimes quite a gap between what those things say and the truth / what is actually correct I find... alas I don't have time today to double check its findings...

I'd hesitate to use the word 'clever', but it certainly is sly, relying on the deliberate ignoring of messages to get on and do it: while failing to address the requirement to undertake a security review that has already been systematically pursued during 2018.

An interesting thought occurs - One thing this does illustrate very clearly is the fact that security services really don't consider DJI drones pose a credible and ongoing risk to National Security.... otherwise they'd be all over this like salt on rice... and would have been from the beginning.

Isn't it fascinating that people are not responding to this thread when it features the single initiative that is almost guaranteed to completely screw up the continued use of DJI drones in the entire continental United States... talk about burying your head in the sand...

many are still walking around with their head in the clouds, thinking all of this will just blow over.........SMH

No need to wait until Dec 31 to feel the effect of misguided policies on DJI product sales in the US. Witness Mavic 4 Pro, and even Mini 4 Pro challenges. It's a mess already.

Regarding "head in sand" comments above: Maybe true for some people. But failing to post about something here is not exactly proof of inaction or denial. Posting opinions here about these kinds of things is largely preaching to the choir. I've been trying to influence government officials directly, and I encourage you all to do the same, even though I am not optimistic.

The mistake is to assume that the people in charge have the intelligence and the integrity to make these assertions. Anyone who was around after 9-11 will realize that the people managing the NSA and the CIA are grossly incompetent and completely lacking in personal integrity.

The real security threat is the more than 2 million independent contractors who are given full access to intelligence data, much as we have more recently been told about with Musk and his DOGE kids.

Folks, please don't fall prey to adverse UAS legislative bias and the doom and gloom that seems to dominate the internet. The reality is NPRMs (notice of proposed rulemaking) in Washington (legislation and EOs) are notorious for missing deadlines and moving slowly. That said, agenda-setting is in full swing. Pilot Institute is one of the best sources of timely, unbiased, and factual reporting on the UAS front. See Drone Executive Order - Critical Info ALL Operators Must Know. Stay tuned!

Yeah I think I missed this thread, too but everyone knows how I feel about this already. My thoughts are they will wait for something bad to happen and then they will spring to action and implement the ban. I'm a firm believer in false flags (not that there have been many but they are in the "toolbox") and NJ was an attempt to kickstart it all and now we are circling the drain. My worry is that most people don't realize we are just one stroke of the pen away from disaster. We are totally exposed and you could wake up overnight and find out "everything has changed." I'm just a little shocked there so much speak as if the year is 2023 and all is well and orderly and this needs to happen first and this can't happen because.....that's over. Look at all the casualties across the country left in the wake of those who thought that way, they were literally steamrolled and left powerless because they were blindsided and flatfooted and didn't know what to do and had nowhere to turn. o_O

Thomas C. Fugate, a 22-year-old University of Texas at San Antonio graduate, was recently appointed by the Trump administration to lead the Department of Homeland Security’s Center for Prevention Programs and Partnerships, the agency’s flagship office for countering domestic violent extremism and administering multimillion-dollar community
prevention grants.

The White House has seldom had the best and the brightest in charge and yet these people are making decisions when they lack the knowledge or experience to do so. Anyone who has watched the recent events should realize that there is no certainty or predictability with regard to the actions of our government.

Safest to buy now and not hope for an intelligent resolution before 2026.
