How can you loose a drone if it is 30 feet away or less?

I don’t know about everyone else but I rarely keep mine within 30 yards much less 30 feet.

I think the point was that someone else might come within 30ft of it and it would log it's location through them. As I said, it may be good for someone but not for me and my normal habitat.

Well, to bring this helpful and fraternal (are there any women in the forum?) thread to a close, I bought, mounted and flew the Marco Polo lightweight. I did a test and the locator worked over rolling forested/grassland ground from a mile away. I attached Marco Polo tag to the extended landing gear rear piece, which is removable for convenient recharging, with the Velcro provided with the Marco Polo. I used USPS clear tape to keep the antenna vertical, as recommended.
Why this choice?
1. No/weak cell service around here
2. Cost was not a factor
3. I do dumb things in life, so I expect to do dumb things flying at $1,100 drone. At the least, I can be prepared to minimize the damage.
