Currently using the Mini 2. The lack of SDK support is forcing me to move to a different model. I need to be able to create flight paths and a custom app for iOS. Before I buy the Mavic 2 Pro are there any gotchas with the SDK and future support of the SDK by DJI? Do DJI and Apple have a good relationship?

What 3rd party apps are "forcing" you to move to the Mavic 2 Pro? One would think that DJI would release the SDK for the Mini 2 at some point. Let's remember that it was only released in November, rigtht on the heels of the Mini 1, which is almost unheard of to do such an update after the release of such a unique drone as the Mini 1.

I have both the Mini 2 and a Mavic 2 Pro and like having both drones for different reasons. I like having automated flight with Litchi for the M2P and will confess that with pre programmed flight it is great to have obstacle avoidance sensors. They saved me once when I miscalculated the RTH height on a building a was filiming and my M2 wanted to make a bee-line back to home right through the dome on the building, but the sensors found a path over it and my drone (and the building) was spared.

The M2Pro has full SDK support.

Missing SDK support is the problem. I hope dji udpates the SDK for the Mini 2 but I wasn't able to find a timeline or confirmation that it would happen anytime soon. We need drones that work with the SDK now so waiting isn't an option.

Does anyone know if dji keeps the SDK for Android and iOS in parity or if one is usually released earlier?

Out of sync frequently

I‘be never heard of the SDKs being released at different times for Android and iOS. Doesn’t mean it didn’t happen at some point in the past but I think @Thomas B might be thinking of the updates to DJI’s native apps which don’t use the SDK.
