HELP!!!
Just bought a brand new DJI Mavic 2 Pro with the smart controller. I’m desperately trying to activate but it tells me I have no internet connection. I have verified I have a connection on both WiFi and Cell. I have tried to activate with either connection. WiFi off, cell on. Cell off, WiFi on.
No luck.
Google searches find others having the same issue, but no real solution. Can anyone help?

It has been awhile since I had this problem but seems like when I went into the pull down menu and turned on the wifi, it turns blue, that it finaly did its thing. Have you tried using the cable that came with it to hook directly to your computer?

I’ve used the cable to update the firmware, but not activate. How do you do that?

Been awhile so not sure. My issue was not turning on the wifi on the remote it self, even after dji told me to, did not understand what they meant I guess. Have you checked the wifi on the sc to make sure that it is on and blue?

If you inserted a memory card into the remote controller, then remove that before attempting to activate it. That sometimes causes trouble for some reason.

Did you verify the remote controller is connected to Wi-Fi?

No memory card in the remote controller. And yes, I’ve verified it’s connected to the WiFi. I’m able to brouse the DJI website with it.

Have you tried connecting the Smart Controller to a different Wi-Fi network?

If you can create a hotspot on your mobile phone, then do that and try connecting the Smart Controller to that Wi-Fi network.

I had this on my drone aswell, however I noticed, that WIFI was deactivated for some reason although I have just entered the credentials.
So I pulled the menu down and activated however as you've already done that, I have no clue ... can you factory reset the SC and try again?

Hi, I know you’re frustrated, but hoping to get you in the air before Monday.

Have you tried the 3 methods listed on page 8 of the SC manual?

Linking the Smart Controller

When the Smart Controller is purchased together with an aircraft, the remote controller has already been linked to the aircraft, and they can be directly used after activating the remote controller and aircraft. If the Smart Controller and the aircraft were purchased separately, follow the steps below to link the remote controller to the aircraft.
Method 1: Using Smart Controller Buttons
1. Power on the remote controller and the aircraft.
2. Press the customizable button C1, C2, and Record button simultaneously. The status LED blinks
blue and the controller beeps twice to indicate the linking has started.
3. Press the linking button on the aircraft. The remote controller’s status LED will be solid green if
the linking is successful.
Method 2: Using DJI GO 4
1. Power on the remote controller and the aircraft. Tap “Go” on the homepage and log in using a DJI account.
2. Tap “Enter Device”, select “Connect to the aircraft”, and follow the prompts to start linking.
3. Select “Enter the Camera View” and tap in camera view. Scroll to the bottom, tap “Remote
Controller Linking” and tap “OK” to confirm.
4. The status LED blinks blue and the remote controller beeps twice to indicate the linking has
started.
5. Press the linking button on the aircraft. The remote controller's status LED will be solid green if
the linking is successful.
Method 3: Using Quick Settings
1. Power on the remote controller and the aircraft.
2. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings. Tap to start linking.
3. The status LED blinks blue and the remote controller beeps twice to indicate the linking has
started.
4. Press the linking button on the aircraft. The remote controller's status LED will be solid green if
the linking is successful.
Make sure the remote controller is within 1.6 ft (0.5 m) of the aircraft during linking.
Make sure the remote controller is connected to the internet when logging in using a DJI account.

The SC is linked to the aircraft, no problem, right out of the box. I can control the gimbal with it. It's trying to activate the SC that is the problem. I am at my wits end. $2400 for this package and it might as well be a paper weight.

One thread not helpful, other might be. One person changed their timezone. You have already removed the card. Reboot (press hold power button). Try loading most recent firmware using Assistant (get version for Mavic TWO devices). Also post on their forum where they might be working this weekend. Explain what you did so that you don't waste back and forths on suggestions. You may need to log in to their site 4 or 5 times before they allow posting!!!!! Oh, you have created an Account?

OP, never followed up, however if you are not able to activate, try two things, after confirming that you have WiFi connected to SC,

Reboot the SC and drone, try again, and try later in the day. I have had this problem with standard controller during peak daytime hours, as their servers will just stop responding. They being DJI. Not sure where you are located, but try later in the evening.

Also, the stupid quiz issue, on the SC purchased with a drone/SC controller combo, you get the same stupid 10 question quiz, but the link was bad, thus the quiz would not load. This is a problem as you only get 3 try’s and then are screwed by DJI, even though they should have a record that you have taken the **** quiz before (at least with me they should have). You have to make sure the SC has the latest firmware as the quiz will come back, but the link now works and you can complete it.

So my point is make sure you have the SC updated to latest DJI firmware before activation. You can update the firmware on both drone and SC before activating. I would use the DJI Assistant Software 2 for Mavic, and you can get the link from their “downloads” area on the M2 pro section of DJI’s website.

Worst case, call them, as they can quickly force the activation over the phone, I had to do this on one of MPP’s. Make sure you keep the email address and password you and they use for the future.

I think you are quite correct, its their servers. My smart controller just randomly connected and got activated no problem. Why it questions your internet connection when its obviously not is beyond me. I fortunately had no problems with the quiz, got through that ok too. Anyway, advice is to just keep trying and you'll eventually get activated. Thanks Paul.
